How about an afternoon on an elegant river boat?
The river cruise is a perfect way to escape the city’s hubbub and a memorable experience itself. However, the comfortable boat equipped in all necessary facilities including kitchen and bar, offers you a lot more possibilities: it is a great venue for lunch, romantic dinner, cocktail party, as well as music concert or a small exhibition.
During the cruise on the Vistula River you will enjoy the picturesque view of Krakow from the new perspective. Your trip will begin in the river meander next to Wawel Castle and pass all the city highlights facing the river: the Skalka Sanctuary, Kazimierz District, St. Salvatore Church and Bielany Monastery. Then, navigating along the green riverbanks, the boat will take you to the Benedictine Abbey of Tyniec.
Located right upon the riverbank, the abbey boasts eventful and dramatic history of nearly 1000 years. Due to several war damages there was little left of the original 11th-century monastery; it was first replaced by Gothic structures and next by the 16th-century Renaissance buildings, rebuilt in Baroque style in the 17th century. Also the abbey’s present Baroque church dates from the 17th century.
The abbey still houses a monks’ community, who run a guest house and small shop with Benedictines’ specialties. On request the visitors can have a meeting with monks and learn about their every-day-life in a monastery, try some of the traditional products or listen to an organ music or monk quire concert.
